Karnataka Budget 2025-26.

Presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Karnataka state budget for 2025–2026 lays out a clear plan for budgetary restraint while making large investments in economic growth and infrastructure. An estimated Rs 4.09 lakh crore would be spent this year, with a major emphasis on improving Bengaluru's infrastructure and providing affordable housing.

Bengaluru's infrastructure budget has increased significantly from Rs 3,000 crore to Rs 7,000 crore, demonstrating the government's commitment to tackling urban issues. Bengaluru's infrastructure has also experienced a rise in funding. In order to alleviate the financial strain on recipients of the Affordable Housing Project, an interest subvention program has been implemented. Contributions from Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) participants have been lowered to Rs 1 lakh, while the state government will pay Rs 5 lakh as part of this effort.

Affordable Housing and Slum Development Housing Projects:

Nearly half of the more than 1.8 lakh homes that have been cleared for development by the Karnataka Slum Development Board have already been built. Furthermore, the Karnataka Housing Board intends to construct 16,140 plots in the Suryanagar Phase-IV Scheme and make them available to the general public and landowners at reasonable prices.

Simplifying Property Management:

To increase openness, information about all registered housing cooperative organizations will be posted online.

Revenue-Boosting Reforms in Bengaluru BBMP Reforms:

By implementing innovations like the e-Khata system, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has increased property tax collection by Rs 4,556 crore. For the upcoming fiscal year, the BBMP would get a special grant of Rs 7,000 crore.

Urban Mobility and Infrastructure :

Infrastructure and Flood Mitigation Projects: A total of Rs 3,000 crore, including Rs 2,000 crore for the BBMP area, has been set aside for flood mitigation measures. In order to enhance urban mobility, funding is also given for the Namma Metro Phase-3 project and a 40.5 km double-decker flyover.

Technology and Economic Growth :

Significant expenditures in AI, deep tech, and semiconductors are highlighted in the budget, establishing Karnataka as a center for cutting-edge innovations. To assist companies, a ₹300 crore Fund-of-Funds has been formed, with an emphasis on extending the startup environment outside of Bengaluru.

Overall, Karnataka's 2025-26 budget reflects a balanced approach to economic growth, infrastructure development, and social welfare, positioning the state for sustainable development.
